#13: Natalia está bien tras sismo / Natalia is OK after earthquake

(English below) Para aquellos que hayan escuchado las noticias de un fuerte sismo en el Yukón, les queremos contar que Natalia se encuentra bien. A las 5:30 h de la mañana, Natalia se despertó con un estruendo terrible y sintiendo como el glaciar bajo ella se movía. Al salir vio enormes avalanchas de seracs que cayeron en las cercanías. El episodio se repitió un par de horas más tarde. Sin, embargo, el campamento elegido por ella era seguro y no sufrió ningún daño, pero como se podrán imaginar se llevó un grandísimo susto.
El motivo de semejante cataclismo fueros dos sismos, aproximadamente a 215 km de distancia, de magnitudes 6,2 y 6,3 respectivamente y muy superficiales. El primero a tan sólo 2,2 km de profundidad. Estos son movimientos muy fuertes para la zona, la gente de Icefield Discovery, que son locales, nos confirman que jamás habían sentido un sismo tan fuerte, lo que explica el gran efecto que tuvo en la montaña.
Natalia en estos momentos está bajando su campamento a terreno más protegido, ya que permanecer en el anterior no era seguro. Su nuevo campamento está de vuelta en el filo a 3.670 metros de altitud, pero completamente a salvo de caída de material, ya que ambos movimientos fueron parte de un enjambre sísmico y réplicas de menor magnitud son probables.
Lo importante es que Natalia se encuentra bien, y si algo es seguro, es que a su regreso tendrá muchas historias que contar!

To those who have hear the news about the earthquakes in the Yukon, we want to say that Natalia is OK. At 5:30 am, she was woke up by a tremendous roar, and feeling how the glacier under her shake and move. Once out of the tent she saw massive serac avalanches all around. The same happened once again about two hours later. Nevertheless, her chosen campsite was safe and she was unharmed, but as you can imagine, she took a very big scare.
The reason of such cataclysm were two earthquakes, approximately 215 km away, of magnitudes 6.2 and 6.3 respectively and very shallow. The first one happened at a depth of just 2.2 km. These are very big earthquakes for the area, the people from Icefield Discovery, locals of the area, have confirmed that they had never felt anything like it, what would explain the large effect they had on the mountain.
Natalia is right now moving her camp down back to the ridge at 3,670 meters, to an area completely safe of rock/ice fall and avalanches, because staying at her Camp 5 location wasn't safe. Both earthquakes were part of a seismic cluster and aftershocks of lesser magnitude are likely.
The important fact is that Natalia is fine. And if something is certain here, is that she will have lots of amazing stories to tell once she is back.
