War meine Euphorie von gestern. Heute hieß die Aufgabe die erste Last
über den Paso del Viento zu bringen. Doch ein Sturm biblischen Ausmasses
brachte uns fast an den Rand der Verzweiflung.

Ich habe derartigen Wind noch nicht erlebt. Es ist nicht mal seine
Stärke. Die Böen machen einem so zu schaffen. Mehrmals hat mich heute so
eine ungeheure Windböe einfach umhehauen. Ich lag dann mit meiner Last
da wie ein Käfer auf dem Rücken und hatte Mühe wieder auf die Beine zu
kommen. Das Gehen im schwierigen Gelände wurde zu einem nervenaufreibenden
Balanceakt.

Für mich waren diese 8,5 Kilometer (Luftlinie) heute, mit leider nur der
ersten Last die vielleicht härteste Prüfung auf der gesamten Tour. Ständig
musste der Weg gesucht werden, dann wieder war der Sturm so heftig, dass
wir minutenlang irgendwie zu sahen, nicht umgeworfen zu werden. Man kann
sich gar nicht vorstellen, wie frustrierend Wind sein kann. Erst nach elf
Stunden haben wir unser heutiges Ziel, die Laguna Toro erreicht.

gibt es jetzt schon. Allerdings wütet der Sturm auch hier. Die Nacht wird
laut.

Morgen geht es zwei weitere Male zuerst ohne dann mit Last über den Paso
del Viento, der heute seinem Namen mehr als alle Ehre gemacht hat. Ich
sehne schon jetzt den Moment herbei, an dem ich meine Last hier unten am
See abstellen werde.

Yesterday I was euphoric. Today I came back to earth: we had to carry the first load over the Paso del Viento. But a storm of biblical proportions brought us almost to the brink of despair.
I have never experienced such wind yet. It is not even the storm force, it’s its gusts. Several times today a tremendous gust simply turned me over. With all the heavy equipment I was then lain down like a beetle on the back and had trouble to get up again. Walking in the difficult terrain became a nerve balancing act.
For me this 8.5 kilometer today was perhaps the hardest test on the entire tour. And unfortunately, that was only the first load. Constantly I had to find the way and the storm was sometimes so strong that we had to be careful not to get overturned. You may not believe how frustrating wind can be. It took us eleven hours before we have reached our today's target, the Laguna Toro.
Tomorrow we have to repeat it again: Going up with no gear, then “fighting” our way down with heavy loads over the Paso del Viento (Pass Of The Wind) - which today has made his name all honour.
Now I’m really looking forward forth the moment when all the gear is down at the Lake.
